At Dover Dental Center, we offer a variety of dental services in Aurora, including Fastbraces®, a different way to straighten teeth. If you are interested in this revolutionary system, continue reading some common questions and discover if you are a candidate.
Traditional braces move teeth into the correct position in two stages, usually over two years’ time. First, the crown of the tooth is moved into alignment, and then treatment leads to the tooth’s root position. However, with Fastbraces®, the brackets work on a different mechanical principle, using an innovative triangular bracket and a specially shaped square wire that corrects the position of the root of the tooth from the very beginning of treatment. As a result, the Fastbraces® combination is key in realigning the root and the crown simultaneously.
This procedure could take less than 120 days for non-deep bite cases. The technology involved allows for movement of the roots of the teeth toward their final position from the beginning of treatment. This helps achieve root parallelism from the start, allowing patients to complete their treatment within 3 months to about a year, yet some patients see results in just a few weeks.
The technology involved in Fastbraces® has low mean frictional forces, so there’s a clear-cut reduction in sliding friction and pain.
When you finish the Fastbraces® treatment, you may need a retainer, but you won’t have to wear it as often as if you had a regular braces treatment. After this treatment, patients will wear retainers at night while they sleep or 15-20 minutes during the day. Your dentist will give you specific instructions for the post-treatment retainer routine and you’ll have the chance to ask any questions that come to mind.
In addition to the shortened length of time Fastbraces® takes, there are many other advantages to the technology, including:
